Went to the NYC Ballet last night at Lincoln Center (Phillip Johnson designed the NY State Theater where the NYC Ballet performs). I know nothing about ballet and that’s part of the appeal for me. I just sit in a comfy room and let pretty things come into my eyes and ears. For me the ballet is wonderfully passive and without context. I don’t know where the piece fits into the progression of the art form in general, I have no formal framework for evaluating whether I like something or not. There usually isn’t much narrative involved either.
The $20 seats Laura and I got were fine, money well spent for a pleasant relaxing evening.
